Welcome to Chen Taiji Center of Irvine! sticky icon

The Chen family style is the oldest and parent form of the five main Tai Chi Quan styles. Chen style is characterized by its lower stances, more explicit Silk reeling (chan si jin) and bursts of power (fa jin).

Athletic/competition sport ("wushu taiji")

Therefore a teacher's system, practice and choice of Tai Chi Quan routines usually emphasises one of these characteristics. The five traditional family styles tend to retain the original martial applicability of taiji teaching methods. Some argue that Chen style schools succeed in this to a greater degree.

Chen Taiji Center of Irvine is a group of proud and devouted students of Master Eduard C.C. Shen, certified judge and board member of American Chen Style Tai Chi Federation. Our practices are friendly and informal. We have a deep respect for the art and for our master. During the practice we share our understanding of the art with respect for our fellow students.

We regularly participate in martial arts demonstrations and support events at the Southern California Chinese Cultural Center. Our advanced students recently won the group competition at the Southern California Evergreen Tai Chi tournament.
